AT-REG applies the model of success for AT regulation achieved in the USA. Regulation began in the USA in 1971 with Texas as the first state conferring statutory-regulation for AT. Plus the incorporation of the NATA regulation committee as the BOC and the incorporation of the accreditation committee into the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE) paved the way to international standards and credentialing.
